Day of the Dead Vocabulary Pages

Day of the Dead Crossword Puzzle and Word Search

I made some puzzles to go with the basic vocabulary, using these terms:

flowers
bread
water
photos
candle
sugar skull
November
happy
Mexico
different
fruit
paper

The word search is for simply finding the terms in Spanish, and the crossword puzzle includes some fill-in-the-blanks. Again, this is all editable, so you can adjust the clues to fit your class!

Día de Muertos Altar/Ofrenda Worksheet

These pages are in English (though they’re editable), so students can read about and color an example of an altar for Día de Muertos. It also includes an altar with no objects, if you’d like to have the students draw the objects on their own.

Editable Glyphs

I have five different glyphs (students love glyphs!) that guide students to draw or color. You can change the clues to whatever themes you are studying in class!

Día de Muertos Coloring Pages and Sugar Skull Masks

These coloring pages include sugar skulls students can color and cut out to make real masks, or just use as coloring pages. These also have ofrendas, papel picado, and monarch butterfly pages to print and color.

Day of the Dead Slides in Spanish for Beginners

These are meant to display and not for printing, but they go along really nicely with the printables here.

Instead of just showing statements to be read out loud, the slides show a series of true/false questions or two choices, so students can guess the answer (it’s fun to use as trivia and keep track of points!).

I had struggled to find slides for absolute beginners, so I made these for my students are just starting out. You can enter your email below and I’ll send you a copy!
