Mexican artist, feminist icon, painter, surrealist, and more, she was famous in her own time. In recent years, Kahlo has captured the mainstream imagination in a a new way.
Frida Kahlo led an extraordinary life that included much suffering. Though the body of art she produced was relatively small– and she only lived to be 47– her paintings are instantly recognizable and point to a profoundly introspective and tumultuous existence.
